New York Marathon 2026

Danni & Chris – Running the NYC Marathon Together

Being diagnosed with bowel cancer at 39 completely shifted my perspective on health and life. I’ve always been passionate about fitness and wellbeing, but going through cancer reinforced just how important early detection and listening to your body truly are.

DANNI:

Running the New York City Marathon has been on my bucket list for years, and now it means so much more than just ticking off a goal. It feels like a celebration of strength, resilience and a second chance. I’m incredibly proud that we’re fundraising for the Jodi Lee Foundation to help raise awareness and funds that support early detection and better outcomes for people affected by bowel cancer.

CHRIS:

As a dad of four and Danni’s husband, I've always put family first. After battling my own health issues in 2024 and having 20% of my lung removed, it reinforced what I was already passionate about — health and family. When Danni was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2025, just seven months after we welcomed our baby, it turned our world upside down.

Being able to stand beside her at the start line in New York — a dream she’s carried for years — is an honour. Running this marathon together isn’t just about 42.2km for us. It’s about gratitude, perspective, resilience, and showing our children what strength really looks like.

If sharing our journey encourages even one person to prioritise their health or book a check-up, then every single step will be worth it.
