The JLF Trek & Trail Run SA 2026

I’m taking part in The JLF Trek & Trail Run to raise awareness for the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer.

This year I'm looking forward to hitting the trails again and enjoying the scenery around McLaren Vale and Onkaparinga Basin with fellow trekkers. I’m not doing the full trek this year, but hoping to do a section or two on both days.

This year is 40 years since my Dad Ross Sawley, was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer in the January and died aged 47 in July 1986.

There was no bowel cancer screening program back in 1986, but now there is free testing for over 45s in Australia and it's so easy to do the test.

I want to continue to raise awareness of the importance of the early detection in the fight against bowel cancer.

I hope you take the time to talk to your GP if you have any symptoms and take the free test the government sends to all of us who are over 50, or if you're over 45 call up and request a test. It might just save your life.

If you can make a donation of any amount to the Jodi Lee Foundation so they can continue the work of spreading the message of early detection that would be gratefully appreciated.Ā

Thank you

Kathryn
