I’m taking part in The JLF Trek & Trail Run to raise awareness for the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer.

2026 is our 5th trek, and it coincides with the 5th anniversary of losing Dan to bowel cancer. Dan was 36, healthy, played hockey and was a regular runner/walker/bike rider, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. He was 38 when he died. He encouraged me to register for my first trek, which ended up being 2 months after he passed away. I'm certain he would be egging me on for every trek we've done since, and he would laugh at our lame attempt at training. We're trekking for Dan, but also for every other young person who faces this diagnosis, while raising awareness so that others can catch the disease so much earlier than we did.
