I’m taking part in The JLF Trek & Trail Run to raise awareness for the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer.
I'm dedicating my efforts in this fundraiser to my dear grandmother who fought a painful and long battle with bowl cancer. Being born into Nazi Germany, she had to learn to deal with whatever life threw at her in the toughest way. She was such a hardworking person that could never sit still and relax. In summer she would work in her produce garden until an hour after the sun came down and in winter there were always some socks to be knitted or some other craft project to be finished while telling stories.
My Oma was a woman that did not need much. Smelling the scent of flowers in spring or eating some fresh walnuts straight from the tree in autumn were the little things that made her happy.
Seeing how bowl cancer took away even the smallest of her pleasures was heartbreaking. I'm taking part in this fundraiser to support the Jodi Lee Bowel Cancer Foundation in their endeavor to make a change, so other families don't have to see their loved ones suffer the way my family did.
I would be so grateful for any donation you are willing to donate to my goal. My Oma taught me many life lessons. One of them being that every dollar counts!
Vielen Dank!
