I’m taking part in The JLF Trek to raise awareness for the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer.

I'm participating in The JLF Trek SA and raising money for the prevention and early detection of bowel cancer, the second most common cause of cancer-related death in Australia. 

My brother was diagnosed at age 36 with Stage 3 bowel cancer, which could have been prevented if symptoms were treated earlier.

Did you know that Australia has one of the highest rates of bowel cancer in the world, and it is our second most common cause of cancer-related death in Australia after lung cancer?

This year an estimated 15,500 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer, and it will claim a life every two hours. That’s around 100 people every week or over 5,300 each year. Bowel cancer is also the leading cancer killer in people aged 25 – 34. Many people don’t know that 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated if detected early, which is why it is so important to build awareness in our community about it.

The Jodi Lee Foundation is a national bowel cancer prevention charity, reaching millions of Australians each year with their initiatives designed to help save lives.
